How were you introduced to the Church of Christ?

I grew up attending the Northlake Church of Christ in Gary, IN. I was baptized around the age of 9.  My grandfather, Fredric Lee McKinney, Sr., was an elder in the church. He is the first leader I saw, and the main person that I try to emulate today.  However, my growth and hunger for the word of God increased when I placed membership at the East Main Church of Christ in Frankfort, KY while attending college.  After moving to Atlanta in 2005, I placed membership at the West End Church of Christ where my wife had already been a faithful member.

I chose to become a deacon because I love to serve and help people.  

My Favorite Scripture:

The scripture that highlights my thoughts of serving as a deacon is in the book of Philippians.  “Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.” Philippians 2:3-4NASB
